As of March we have started our regular outdoor training sessions. This means people, regardless of Touch knowledge, will be able to learn the game of Touch, for beginners and intermediate the training time is Thursday 18:30. This will include expert training as to how to play and also start to introduce basic moves that one will use in everyday play (switch, drive, wrap etc.) The training session will be finished off with a short game which will give one the chance to put the skills that have just been learnt into a game scenario. The other training time is Monday 18:30, this is for the intermediate and advanced players and will include development of ones field position, second phase plays and also a more tactical approach to the game. If you cant make the training that is no problem there is also Social Touch which is played every Saturday at 14:00. Social Touch is suitable for people of all ages and skill levels, the main thing is you get in there and have a go (there are many senior players to help if you get stuck).  With winter having arrived and the days getting shorter, Touch Berlin has headed indoors for Wednesday evenings to play a crazy new sport which will sharpen your ball skills and keep fitness levels sky high for social Touch outdoors at TiB on Saturdays. Turbo Touch is a cross between basketball and Touch, – it’s a jam-packed, non-contact sport with plenty of action and perfect for all fitness levels and abilities. Unlike traditional Touch, the oval ball can be passed forwards, or backwards, sideways, any way you like, and the team in possession must put in at least two passes before a touchdown can be scored.
It makes for a high tempo, quick turnover game which can be played on a typical basketball court and sharpens the skills as wayward passes are quickly punished as players zoom up and down the court.
You don't need a background in Touch or either code of rugby to get involved, anyone who has played any team sport can pick up the game quickly. If you've ever been involved in basketball at even the most basic level you have already got a good start. It's just we play with an oval ball. Having originated in New Zealand, Turbo Touch is now in it's second year in Berlin, so come down to Teske Oberschule at Tempelhofer Weg 62 to find out more.
Better to show up early as we start at 20:00 and have to be out by 21:30, which is normally followed by a few social beers.

Mit dem Beginn des Winters und den kürzer werdenden Tagen hat Touch Berlin seine Hallensaison begonnen. Jeden Mittwochabend spielen wir eine verrückte neue Sportart, welche die Ballfähigkeiten schärft und die Fitness verbessert. Von diesem exzellenten Training profitieren alle Spieler, was sich jeden Samstag beim Social Touch auf dem TIB Außengelände zeigt. Turbo Touch ist ein Mix aus Basketball und Touch, es ist ein vollgepackter, berührungsloser Sport mit viel Aktion und perfekt für Fitness und Koordination. Im Gegensatz zum traditionellen Touch Football besteht die Möglichkeit dem ovalen Ball nach vorn, nach hinten oder auch zur Seite abzuspielen. Die Richtung spielt keine Rolle. Das Team welches den Ball besitzt, muss den Ball mindestens 3-mal abspielen bevor es Punkten kann.
Das Spiel zeichnet sich durch ein hohes Tempo und schnelle Wechsel aus, welches auf einem Basketballfeld gespielt werden kann. Turbo Touch schärft deine Sinne und unberechenbare Zuspiele werden schnell bestraft indem deine Gegenspieler das Spielfeld besser nutzen und zum Gegenspielzug ausholen.
Man benötigt keine Spielkenntnisse oder Regelverständnisse von Rugby um mitspielen zu können. Jeder der schon einmal eine Teamsportart gespielt hat wird dieses Spiel schnell verstehen. Falls du schon einmal Basketball gespielt hast, wenn auch nur auf einem grundlegenden Niveau, hast du bereits beste Voraussetzungen. Das einzige was dich ein bisschen aus dem Konzept bringen könnte, wäre das wir mit einem ovalen Ball spielen.

The AGM will take place in the form of a telephone conference to facilitate easier access. The Agenda for the meeting is attached below. Please note the meeting will be carried out in German. Amongst various other items for discussion and approval will be the election of new board members. Two of the current board members are retiring from their positions at the next available opportunity and the board as a whole is seeking volunteers to stand for election for these posts.
To simplify the election process, all board positions will contest the upcoming election
Any member of TiB (Touch Deutschland) is eligible to present themselves for election to the board (insofar as they are financial with TD at the time of elections). Please contact Conall if you are interested in contending for any of the above positions. Please note that Nov. 6 is the deadline for expressions of interest.

we are very sorry that it has taken us so long, but we can now finally confirm that on Saturday 6th August 2011, Touch München will be holding the 7th Bavarian Open Touch Rugby Tournament in Munich. We would like to open this invitation to all teams and individuals who might be interested in playing in this tournament.
Date: Saturday 6th of August 2011 Location: 2 pitches at the Bezirksportanlage Trudering (Feldbergstr. 65 81825 München) Format: 1 (one) day competition, first game starting at 9 am, aiming to finish the tournament by 6 pm. A meeting with all the team managers/captains will be held at the grounds at 8:30 am sharp of the day of the competition. The teams will be mixed (i.e. 3 women on the pitch at all times) with a maximum of 14 players per squad.
Referees: Each team must provide three FIT-qualified referees for the day.If you are a referee and would like to help us out at our tournament, please let us know. We would love to have you.
Team Fees: 200 euros for a team with 10 players, 20 euros per additional player. Your place in the competition will only be guaranteed once team-fee has been received.
Deadline for team registration is the 29th of July (Friday).
Touch Deutschland Tournament Regulations and Team Members Registration Form will follow shortly. The after-tournament party will be organised at a location in town, more information to follow.

Players who are members of TiB Sports Club will be given a priority over non members to compete with Berlin.
Various options are available regarding travel. The cheapest (although quite time consuming) way is for us to travel down on the regional trains. The cost would be a return trip of total 21EUR. The journey would last 8hrs to get there on Friday and another 8hrs to get home on the Sunday.
This would involve two overnights in Frankfurt. Accommodation will the local players may be arranged if possible for certain people. There is also an option (if enough people confirm early enough) to get hostel accommodation for us for 19EUR per night.
Estimated cost of the trip per player: 21EUR (travel) 38EUR (accommodation) 20EUR (tournament fee)
TOTAL = 79EUR

As a result of the fantastic start of the season and the great numbers turning up to training, we are setting up a second weekly training night for those who are interested. This will take place on Mondays, 18:30 on the main field at TiB, starting MONDAY MAY 30th!!
The idea is to keep the Thursday training as the main training night, with a relaxed, social character and lots of game-time (the way it's been so far), and to use Mondays for a slightly more advanced/technical training for those of us who are keen to go a bit deeper with our game. That is not to say that Mondays will be only for the more experienced players: everybody is welcome, but be ready for something a bit more challenging!!
That being said, if you are completely new, then you are probably better off coming on Thursdays (and Saturdays) for a while. If you are planning to attend tournaments with us this year, then please come to both - we want to get our game in gear and beat those Müncheners!! :-) Jordi |

The current plan is to send down as many people as possible. Most probably the best option is for us to travel down and back on the train (with a Schones Wochenende Ticket). If we do this, each person only pays 7.8EUR in total (from Berlin, within Leipzig, and back to Berlin again). i.e. a bargain!! The details of the planned morning train are here below. We will aim to get a similar train back again that evening in time for tea and cakes in Berlin before bedtime!

 Many thanks to Leipzig for making the 200-km trek to the capital and bringing an impressive small army of players which allowed for a three-team tournament under sunny blue skies.
While Leipzig play a form of touch called OK Rugby, which involves limited kicking, their players quickly adapted to the touch rules with Berlin's trainee referees helping out any one new to the game. There was plenty of action with Berlin being pushed all the way by both of Leipzig's teams and there was plenty to discuss over the barbecue and beers when the action was over.
Having won the German touch championships last season with a final victory over Munich in the final of Sepetmber's Heidelberg tournament, Berlin has a new-look team this season. Germany players Lena Dietz and Svenja Gellert have both moved to Cologne and Vienna respectively, while Alex McOnie has returned to Australia and Jonathan Pengelly is on his way home to New Zealand. Jordie Bitloch is away in Australia gaining valuable experience before going with the Germany squad to the World Cup in Edinburgh in June.
Mr Touch Deutschland Rob McGregor is sidelining playing to move more into a coaching role. A host of new faces have arrived at the club with differing levels of experience and Berlin's new coaching team of Kai Lawrence and Marcus Wu are working hard with Berlin to host the Capital Cup on May 14. Berlin will be defending their title, but both Frankfurt and Munich will present a strong challenge. Germany representatives Niklas Grupe and Conny Hyb are hard at work with the World Cup now three months away.
Special mention needs to go to Conall Dodd for some tireless work behind the scenes to help keep the club together during so much changing of personnel. Anyone interested in learning more about OK Rugby, and specifically the team in Leipzig, further information is available at their website here...

 Despite Thursday's heavy downpour, around ten hardy-souls brushed off the damp conditions to enjoy training at the end of the week and a game under the guidance of coaches Rob McGregor and Marcus Wu.
Saturday's turn-out for social was just shy of 20 as Mutter Natur brought her A-game and so did a blend of Australians, Brits, Kiwis, Italians and Berliners with plenty of hard running, tight defending and flowing attacks.
It was heartening to see a group of good newbies, with varying degrees of experience, coming along and getting stuck in. Promising home-grown prospects Matti and Erasmus were quick to show off their skills learned on the rugby pitch, while Italy's Jacopo is picking up the game quickly and showed off some good handling skills. The fascinatingly-named Boomer admitted the prospect of the post-match grill had enticed him along, but he showed a good turn of pace and awareness on the pitch. Top marks for newbie Alex who did admirably when confronted with an oval ball for the very first time.
On die Maedels front, Christina is picking up the game with increasing pace and Kathy is showing masses of potential, especially on defence where she was playing like a veteran while ever-green Elke showed she still has plenty of pace. Of the regulars, Kai and Chris are playing their way into the Capital Cup side, while Rob -- Mr Touch Deutschland -- McGregor can still split a defence quicker than a currywurst out of the door of the local Imbiss at lunchtime.
We still need regulars to sign up for TiB membership and at around 25 euros a quarter, playing touch in Germany's capital is still one of the cheapest ways to get fit with a whole summer ahead of us. Click on 'files and documents' and download a form to sign up.

The inaugural Federation of International Touch 2011 European Club Touch Championships (ECTC2011)
We are glad to finally announce that this year’s Summer Season will commence on March 26th at 1400 with a Social Touch Session at the TiB Club grounds! It’s going to be a social game so it won’t be that competitive and should be a nice way to start of the season in the traditional laid back Berlin style. The plan is to have a nice relaxed game with enough people so everyone gets some game time and also plenty of time on the sidelines to catch up with everyone and have a bit of fun. As usual there will be a broad mix of people there from absolute beginners to regular players and of course the odd few people just coming along for a beer and a chat. The weather forecast is looking good with clear skies and warm temperatures expected. We will have access to the BBQ and will bring along some coal to start it up. So if people want to eat too, just bring along some food and tuck in!
